A Swedish-founded heat pump company building a UK business, with training academies in Sheffield and south London for new installers.
Aira is a clean energy technology company that helps households switch to cleaner heating, mainly with heat pumps. It sells and installs them in the UK and trains the people who fit them.
Its UK announcement says the aim is to make home heating more sustainable and affordable and to become the UK heat pump market leader. Its job advert calls its engineers "Clean Energy Technicians" and talks about an "Aira family".
Aira is a Swedish company with UK operations. It opened the Aira Academy in Sheffield (White Rose Business Park) in April 2024 and a second academy in Crayford, south London, in August 2024. Its Crayford announcement says it plans 8,000 UK hires over ten years (company claim). A UK-based Heat Pump Installer advert was live when we checked in October 2026.
We found little on culture beyond the "family" wording in its own adverts. The installer advert lists benefits including 25 days' holiday, a company van, tools and uniform, which are the company's own claims.
Aira says its academies are for people with no prior experience or those starting a career, covering installers, electricians, designers and sales. In Sheffield, apprentices were to start in September 2024 with RNN Group (as at 2024). The current installer role needs NVQ Level 2 plumbing and Gas Safe registration, so it is not a first job. Check Aira's careers site for apprenticeship dates.
