A privately owned pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company with its headquarters in Craigavon, Northern Ireland, known for funded apprenticeships.
Almac helps pharmaceutical and biotech companies develop and make medicines. Its services include research and biomarker discovery, making active ingredients, formulation, clinical trial supply and commercial manufacturing.
We did not find a formal mission statement on the pages we read. Almac says its STEM outreach aims to encourage young people to keep studying STEM subjects, and one manager has said degree apprenticeships are a win-win for students and the company.
Almac's headquarters are in Craigavon, Northern Ireland. Its site says it has 18 facilities worldwide and over 7,900 employees, more than 55 years of experience, with sites in Europe, the US and Asia. The split between Northern Ireland and other sites was not given.
We did not find culture surveys. Almac's apprenticeship press materials mention mentoring, structured on-the-job training, flexible working, bonuses and pension contributions, which are the company's claims.
Routes: Higher Level Apprenticeships in analytical chemistry and computing with Southern Regional College (first graduates in 2019, then moving on to a BSc at Ulster University), and Almac Accelerate, a three-year degree apprenticeship with Ulster University in customer operations (four places from September 2022, for people with or about to gain a Level 3 qualification). Placement roles have also appeared on Irish job boards. Dates are old, so check Almac's careers site.
