Arthur Online

A London-based cloud property-management software company, launched in 2015, now part of the Aareon group, serving letting agents, landlords, student and social housing providers.

About Arthur Online

Arthur Online provides software for running property portfolios. Its website calls it "the only cloud-based property management platform designed with your business in mind", and it offers a suite of tools for financial reporting, task management, occupancy, documents, workflows and the people involved in a property, such as owners, tenants and contractors. It connects to other systems including Xero, Rightmove, Zoopla and StuRents. Its users include letting agents, self-managing landlords and student and social housing providers. It reports that it was managing 10,000 units by 2015 and 60,000 by 2018.

Marc and Rochelle Trup launched Arthur in 2015, after first working on the idea in 2012. David Cummin led the technical development, and Darren Moore, a software development expert, helped build the platform. A TechRound profile describes the company's early days, and the company's own story says it began in a founder's basement. The pages we read give no formal mission or values. What they describe is a goal to save property managers time, increase efficiency and bring the many parts of property management into one place.

Arthur Online is based in London. It moved from the basement to London offices in 2018 and expanded its London office in 2021 to fit what it called a fast-growing team. In December 2020 it joined the Aareon group, a property software business, and in 2021 it acquired Tilt Property Software. It still trades under the Arthur name, and its careers page is hosted by Aareon. Its customers are across the UK, from small landlords to agencies.

The company presents itself as a start-up that grew from a handful of people: it invites readers to join and help it grow. We did not find a headcount or any statement about working culture, and we have no independent reviews, so we cannot say more about day-to-day life there. TechRound also published an interview with its chief technology officer, which suggests the company values engineering and openness about how it works, but we did not read it in full.

A property software company like this employs software engineers, product and design staff, customer support and onboarding teams who train new users, account managers, marketing staff and finance teams. Knowing how landlords and agents work, for instance through a part-time job in lettings, can be a real advantage. For anyone who likes the idea of making complicated administration simpler, Arthur Online is a good example of a UK property company where technology and everyday property knowledge meet.
