A Coventry company that designs and builds driverless electric vehicles to move baggage and cargo around airports.
Aurrigo International designs, engineers and builds electric and driverless vehicles. Its aviation range is made for the airside area of airports, where bags, cargo and passengers are moved around. Products include the Auto-Dolly and Auto-DollyTug, which carry luggage and cargo, the Auto-Cargo, which is described as its largest vehicle yet, and Auto-Sim, a software tool that copies airport activity so operators can test ideas before using them. It also does automotive work, including electronics, wire harnesses and software development. The company says it has vehicles working at airports in several countries.
We did not find a formal mission statement. Founder and chief executive David Keene has said that driverless technology must improve efficiency and the passenger experience as well as cut emissions, saying "You can't deliver the green benefits without the other performance metrics that make airports work." In 2025 he was awarded an MBE for services to the decarbonisation of airports.
Aurrigo is headquartered in Coventry, where its vehicles are designed, developed and built at its Advanced Engineering Centre, with a company address on Siskin Drive. It also has offices in Australia, Canada, the US and Singapore. Its UK links include a vehicle trial at East Midlands Airport and plans for Teesside International Airport, and it is linked to Heathrow work. A non-executive director chairs the Airside Automation Group, a UK industry group set up in September 2025.
The company began in 1993, when David Keene and his brother Graham started it from a home office after David left Rover Cars. It was once called RDM Group and began with automotive wiring and tracking technology, later moving into driverless pods and airport vehicles. In 2023 Keene called staff "our biggest asset" and said some early team members still work there (company's own words). He also works with Aston, Warwick and Coventry universities and encourages young people into engineering.
We did not find a graduate scheme or apprenticeship. In 2023 the company ran a recruitment drive for electronic and software engineers, manufacturing specialists and business development staff. A 2023 Coventry job listing preferred an engineering or business degree and a 2024 airside safety operator listing was based at Cincinnati airport in the US.
