Autolus Therapeutics

A UK-founded biopharmaceutical company that makes personalised CAR-T cell therapies for blood cancers and autoimmune disease, with manufacturing in Stevenage.

About Autolus Therapeutics

Autolus designs and makes cell therapies, where a patient's own immune T cells are re-programmed to find and attack disease. Its first approved medicine, called AUCATZYL (obe-cel), is for a type of blood cancer, and the company is also exploring autoimmune diseases.

We did not find a formal mission statement in the sources we read. A job listing describes the team as "pushing the boundaries of cancer therapy and autoimmune disease", in a flexible, collaborative culture (company's own words).

Autolus has a registered office in London (White City) and runs a large manufacturing site called The Nucleus in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. It also has earlier lab and manufacturing space at the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult in Stevenage and has run clinical trials at UK sites such as University College London. We did not find a current UK headcount.

A job listing says people work on site at the manufacturing facility. Benefits listed on that advert include a bonus, private medical insurance and a pension. Culture claims are the company's own, so ask about them at interview.

A listing for an Environment, Health and Safety apprentice (Level 3, 24-month fixed-term, Stevenage) asked for 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English, maths and a science, and quoted an estimated salary of £19,350 to £23,650 (as at 2026, third-party job board). Check Autolus's careers page for current apprenticeships and graduate roles.
