AviadoBio

A London gene therapy company developing treatments for frontotemporal dementia and ALS, based on research from King's College London.

About AviadoBio

AviadoBio develops gene therapies for brain diseases such as frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and motor neurone disease (ALS). A gene therapy delivers a working copy of a gene to cells, and the company is working on ways to do this in the brain.

Its mission, in its own words, is to "develop and deliver potentially transformative gene therapies for people living with devastating neurodegenerative diseases". Its science comes from King's College London and the UK Dementia Research Institute.

The company is London-based and has a hybrid working set-up, according to a jobs-board profile that lists about 50 employees and a 2019 founding date. Its UK clinical trial, ASPIRE-FTD, was announced with sites at Cambridge University Hospitals, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and University College London.

We could not find a description of the culture in the pages we read, only that the team includes experienced biotech leaders such as Chair Jeff Goater and chief executive Lisa Deschamps (as at 2023).

No open roles were listed when we looked, and we found no graduate or apprenticeship routes. Science graduates often enter gene therapy through lab and research assistant roles or PhDs, so check AviadoBio's careers page.
