A UK advisory, accounting and compliance group with offices across the UK. It runs six-year school leaver and graduate routes to chartered accountancy.
Azets is a large accountancy and advisory group. In the UK it helps businesses, public sector bodies and individuals with accounts, tax, audit, payroll and general business advice. Think of it as the accountant a small or medium-sized company turns to when it needs someone to keep the books straight, file the tax and give advice on growing. It has also bought many smaller accountancy firms, for example the North West firm Alextra in May 2026 (headline).
Accountancy Today's background summary says Azets took its current form in 2016, when Blick Rothenberg and Cogital Group joined and the group separated from Visma. The UK side traces its roots to 1971, when the firm traded as Baldwins. Campbell Dallas (2017) and Wilkins Kennedy (2018) joined later, and the local brands were unified under the Azets name in 2020. The summary says the group is backed by the UK private equity investor Hg Capital and led by CEO Peter Gallanagh. It does not name a head office. It reported about 3,916 UK professionals, including 379 partners, at 30 June 2023, and a new Bristol office that year described as the 87th in the UK network. The group also operates in the Nordic and Baltic countries. These figures are dated, so check current ones.
We did not find a formal mission statement in the pages we read, and Azets' early careers page does not describe its values or culture.
Main services are accounting, tax, audit, advisory and business services, including outsourced services, corporate finance and specialist medical accounting. Trainees mostly join Audit, Tax, or Accounts and Business Advisory, with smaller numbers in Payroll, Internal Audit and Wealth.
Azets has been one of the biggest trainee recruiters outside the Big Four. A news report dated 9 September 2024 said it welcomed 333 new graduates and school leavers in the previous 12 months and that 817 colleagues were studying for a professional qualification. Its early careers page lists routes for graduates and school and college leavers: ACA (typically 3 to 5 years), ICAS (about 3 years for graduates, about 5 for school leavers), a joint ATT/CTA tax pathway (2 A Levels at A to E and 3 GCSEs at 9 to 4, or a relevant job with 6 months' experience), and AAT Level 3 (no strict grades, though GCSE Maths and English help; no age limit). The school leaver route has been described as a six-year programme moving from AAT to a chartered qualification. Check the job advert for current requirements and pay, which we did not find.
