A FTSE 100 specialist insurer headquartered in London, known for cyber insurance and for running several syndicates in the Lloyd's market.
Beazley is a specialist insurer based in London. It underwrites insurance and reinsurance for businesses around the world, and it runs several Lloyd's syndicates. It is organised into divisions including Cyber Risks, Marine, Aviation and Political Risks, Property Risks, Specialty Risks and Digital, and it is particularly well known for cyber insurance, which protects firms against hacking and data loss. Its insurance lines also include professional indemnity, directors and officers cover, healthcare and environmental liability.
Beazley's own culture page says it wants to be "a place where you can truly be you". It says its brand and values are being bold, striving for better and doing the right thing. In its words, it values curious people who enjoy "cutting through complexity to find a better way to do things", and it says integrity is instinctive, with openness, honesty and respect.
The business began in 1986 as Beazley, Furlonge and Hiscox, a Lloyd's firm. Hiscox was bought out in 1992, and the management bought the business in 2001. Andrew Beazley led it until 2008, followed by Andrew Horton and then Adrian Cox, who became chief executive in April 2021. Its shares are listed on the London Stock Exchange and it is in the FTSE 100. In 2024 it created Beazley Security by joining its in-house cyber services team with Lodestone, a cybersecurity company it already owned. Press reports in March 2026 said Zurich Insurance Group had made an agreed offer to take it over, so check the latest position on ownership before you apply.
The headquarters is in London, and Beazley's website has a dedicated United Kingdom site and a London Market site. We could not confirm from the pages we read how many other UK offices it has, or its UK headcount, so check its website for current locations. The company also operates in Europe, North America and Asia.
Beazley says its culture scores very highly in employee surveys, and its awards page lists recognition for people development, inclusion and apprenticeships. As a specialist insurer it employs underwriters who decide which risks to take on, claims specialists, actuaries who model risk, cyber and technology experts, finance and risk staff, and operations and client service teams. The Beazley Security business also employs security analysts and engineers. Understanding how a cyber attack affects a business is useful across many of these jobs.
