Bosch UK

The UK and Ireland arm of Bosch, the German technology and engineering group, making and selling car parts, home heating, power tools and smart technology.

About Bosch UK

Bosch UK is part of the global technology and services group Bosch. In the UK and Ireland it works across four areas: Mobility, Industrial Technology, Energy and Building Technology, and Consumer Goods. In automotive terms it supplies parts and technology for vehicles, supports garages with diagnostics and training, and works on connected and automated driving. It also owns Worcester Bosch, the boiler maker, and sells eBike systems and smart home products. Bosch eBike systems launched in the UK in 2015 and Bosch Smart Home in 2017. Worcester Bosch developed what it says was the world's first hydrogen-ready boiler in 2020.

Robert Bosch founded the group in Stuttgart in 1886. His first office outside Germany opened in London in 1898, and UK manufacturing began in Acton in 1931. The UK head office moved to Denham, Buckinghamshire, in 1984, and Bosch acquired a majority stake in Worcester Group in 1992. In 2023 Bosch UK marked its 125th anniversary, the first market outside Germany to do so. The page also quotes Robert Bosch's 1931 advice to "respect human dignity in your dealings with others".

The group's stated aim is technology that is "Invented for life", meaning products that make daily life simpler while conserving natural resources. It says it draws on curiosity, strong expertise and a mix of hardware, software and services.

Bosch's 2026 UK and Ireland fact sheet says it employs about 6,000 people. Its headquarters and sales functions are in Denham, manufacturing is in Nelson, St Neots, Glenrothes and Worcester, research and development is in Worcester and Stowmarket, sales offices are in Warwick and Milton Keynes, and a services centre is in Liverpool. A training centre operates in Uxbridge, opened in 2012, and the Liverpool services centre opened in 2004. Bosch also took over the Protec Fire & Security Group in 2021 and runs garden equipment brand Atco-Qualcast from Stowmarket. In mobility, a Bosch-led consortium began on-road automated driving tests in the UK in 2016, and Bosch bought the UK start-up Five in 2022 for autonomous driving software.

Bosch describes its UK and Ireland work as spanning research and development, manufacturing, sales and services, so the roles run from engineers and software developers to production staff, trainers, salespeople and finance and HR teams. The UK is Bosch's fourth-largest market worldwide, so it is a significant employer in the sector. Bosch's Gradcracker profile says the company is based in about 50 UK sites and lists an undergraduate and graduate intake, which is its own claim.
