BPTW Partnership

A Greenwich-based architecture practice, with in-house planners and visualisers, that specialises in homes, regeneration and mixed-use schemes for housing providers and developers.

About BPTW Partnership

BPTW Partnership is a London architecture practice that designs housing and neighbourhoods. Its architecture page lists residential and mixed-use projects, regeneration, urban housing, suburban and rural housing, specialist housing such as extra care, masterplanning, urban design strategies and design codes, and retrofit (upgrading existing buildings). Its clients include housing associations, which the page calls registered providers, and private developers. It describes services running from concept and planning design through detailed design and working drawings, including sustainable design, BIM, DfMA (design for manufacture and assembly), community engagement and work with housebuilders.

The practice describes itself as design-led, with a reputation for design excellence. It says it aims to create aspirational buildings and award-winning schemes, and to deliver high-quality, contemporary and distinctive buildings that serve both clients and the people who use them. It takes what it calls a holistic approach, grounded in strong urban design principles. Its footer tagline is "architecture that transforms people's lives". We did not find a founding date or founder names in the pages we read. A 2009 book, Celebrating Differences: The Work of BPTW Partnership, with a foreword by Nick Raynsford, is listed by booksellers.

BPTW's studio is at 40 Norman Road, Greenwich, London SE10, which it moved to around 2018. We found no evidence of other UK studios, so this is a single-site practice in south-east London. Its Greenwich location puts it close to many of the housing and regeneration projects it works on. An Architecture Today article describes its design for a housing scheme in Greenwich drawing on historic references. In June 2018 the Architects' Journal named it Fastest Growing Practice of the Year in the AJ100, after it rose 40 places to number 45 and grew to 120 staff. That figure is now several years old.

The practice describes its studio as "open, professional and creative", with a culture of openness and shared working. It also says its in-house planners and visualisers work alongside architects. In the 2018 news item it credits strong client relationships and a focus on career development, noting that many Part II architectural assistants qualified as architects there, and it describes itself as an Investors in People employer. Those are the practice's own statements.

The roles at a practice like this include architects, architectural assistants, architectural technologists, BIM coordinators, planners, visualisers, and office and business support staff. If you care about homes and about how streets and neighbourhoods feel, housing-focused architecture is a good way to make a visible difference to people's lives. The practice's website lists current openings.
