British Business Bank

The UK government-owned economic development bank, with offices in Sheffield and London and a summer internship and early career roles.

About British Business Bank

The British Business Bank is a UK government-owned development bank. It works to make finance markets work better so that smaller UK businesses can prosper and grow. It does this through partners and programmes rather than lending directly to most small firms.

The Bank's mission, as stated on a university careers listing, is to make finance markets work better for smaller UK businesses. Its careers page says early-career roles "make a difference to the UK economy". Its UK Network team works to tackle imbalances in access to finance across the UK's regions and nations.

Its registered office is Steel City House, West Street, Sheffield. Summer interns are based in Sheffield or London. We did not retrieve a headcount.

The early careers page says staff agree a development plan with their manager, get free LinkedIn Learning access, can work on projects outside their usual role, and can get support for specialist certifications. This is the Bank's own description, and we found no independent culture information.

The Bank offers entry-level roles and internships. The Summer Internship (listed on the University of Sheffield careers site, with an older working-from-home note) offers hands-on experience, team projects, objectives and review meetings. You need UK right to work and must be able to attend the London or Sheffield office. Dates, duration and pay were not stated, and apprenticeships and graduate schemes were not mentioned on the page we read, so check the Bank's careers site.
