A London-headquartered football agency, founded in 1997 as Base Soccer Agency and part of the talent agency CAA Sports since 2019, representing players, managers and coaches.
CAA Base is the football arm of CAA, the global talent agency. It represents footballers, managers and coaches and helps them with moves between clubs, contracts and work away from the pitch. A 2019 announcement said the agency represented more than 300 international players, coaches and managers, including several Premier League players and four players on England's women's World Cup squad. Its profile on a business data site describes an all-encompassing service that manages clients at every level, and says its aim is to support clients' careers through an international network.
The agency began as Base Soccer Agency in 1997, founded by Leon Angel. Its chief figures in 2019 were Angel and the agent Frank Trimboli. On 2 July 2019 CAA Sports, a division of Creative Artists Agency, announced that it had bought Base. Angel said Base's reputation had been built on its ability to deliver the best deals for its clients, and Michael Levine, then co-head of CAA Sports, said the aim was best-in-class service for clients worldwide. A recruitment text for the agency says CAA Base aims to give clients best-in-class service both on and off the field. We found no separate mission or values page.
Base is headquartered in London, and the 2019 report said it employed 60 people there, with consultant offices across Europe, South America, Australia, Asia and North America. A business data site gives a 2020s headcount of 94, which suggests growth, but that figure is not from the company. The firm's London office hosted a 12-week programme for interns running from January to March 2024, according to a job-board posting.
On culture, CAA says in its recruitment text that it seeks proactive problem solvers with enthusiasm for building a career at the company, and it states a commitment to equal employment opportunity. The 2024 posting described interns working alongside data and video analysts, a talent identification and client retention team, an operations department that handles contracts, and registered intermediaries during the summer transfer window, and meeting clients and industry contacts. The tasks listed were research, team support, admin and data entry. These are company statements, not independent views, and the posting contained a contradiction about whether the role was paid.
The roles at an agency like this go well beyond the agents who negotiate deals. The posting points to data and video analysts, scouting and talent identification, operations and contracts, client service and operations. If you like football, numbers, negotiation, or helping people through big career decisions, it shows that agencies employ people with analytical and organisational skills as well as those who work directly with players. Agent work in England is regulated by the FA, so the exact route into representing players has specific requirements to check.
