About Capgemini

Capgemini is a large technology and business consulting company. Put simply, it helps other organisations, including banks, retailers, manufacturers and government departments, choose, build and run the software, cloud systems, data and AI tools they need, and it also advises them on how to change the way they work. Wikipedia lists its work as IT services and consulting, outsourcing, engineering and research (Capgemini Engineering), and design and consulting (Capgemini Invent). It has about 423,400 employees in roughly 50 countries (2025).

It was founded in 1967 in France by Serge Kampf, first as Sogeti, became CAP Gemini Sogeti in 1975 and Capgemini SE in 2017. Its headquarters is in Paris. In the UK it grew through Hoskyns in 1990 and, through the 2019 Altran purchase, joined Cambridge Consultants and frog design to the group. It also holds a UK government contract to run legacy tax systems for HMRC. UK offices named in a 2026 apprenticeship listing were Birmingham, Manchester, Woking and London, and its graduate page names public sector teams in Telford and Hove.

Capgemini announced its purpose on 12 October 2020 in Paris: “Unleashing human energy through technology for an inclusive and sustainable future.” The company says it built the purpose with employees, using a questionnaire between December 2019 and May 2020 that drew over 50,000 responses, plus workshops with young employees in India, the USA, the UK, Germany and France. Its leaders said technologies can enable progress for everyone if they are designed by and for humans. The press release did not list formal values, though it points to inclusion, diversity, sustainability and ethical technology. Its own description today is an “AI-powered global business and technology transformation partner”.

Named parts of the group include Capgemini Invent, the strategy, design and consulting arm; Capgemini Engineering, which does research and engineering for products; Cambridge Consultants, a UK product-development firm; and frog design, a design studio. Its UK graduate roles are grouped into consulting (for example Associate Consultant, Business Analyst, Salesforce Consultant and SAP Consultant), management and coordination (Project Manager, Service Delivery Analyst), specialist roles (Cyber Security Consultant, Finance Analyst, User Research and Design) and technical roles (Software Developer, DevOps Engineer, Power Platform Engineer).

For young people, Capgemini's UK page describes two graduate programmes. Accelerate, at Capgemini Invent, fast-tracks graduates into specialist consultants with a four-month immersive period in its Institute, then 18 months applying the skills on client projects. Empower blends technology and business skills through client work, role-specific training and “Learning Pods”, and includes roles supporting a large public sector account in Telford and Hove. As at 2026, applications opened on 1 October for those who had finished their degree and from 15 October for final-year students, with more roles released through the year; you can apply for only one early-careers role per season, and some roles need security clearance. The page mentions training, mentoring, professional qualifications and graduate networks, and says Capgemini is in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers (its own claim). A third-party listing for the 2026 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship gave a three-year role at £20,000 a year with a Sheffield Hallam University degree and seven GCSEs at grades 4 to 9 including maths and English; that listing has closed, so check Capgemini's careers site.
