Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult

An independent UK innovation organisation, based at Stevenage, that helps companies develop cell and gene therapies and coordinates an apprenticeship community.

About Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult

The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult helps companies and researchers turn cell and gene therapies into real treatments. These are medicines that use living cells or genes, and the Catapult offers expertise, manufacturing know-how and training.

It calls itself "an independent innovation and technology organisation committed to the advancement of cell and gene therapies". Its vision is "globally-leading companies delivering transformative medicine to the world".

It is based at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst in Hertfordshire, according to a 2024 photo caption on the Stevenage Catalyst site. We did not find a current headcount or other office list on the pages we read.

It says it has a team of experts covering all aspects of advanced therapies. We did not find stated culture values.

It coordinates the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC), which began with its first apprentice in 2018 and, as at November 2024, had placed over 360 apprentices across 59 organisations, with 100 completions. It is open to school leavers and experienced professionals, at a range of levels. Employers have included Oxford Biomedica, NHS Blood and Transplant and GSK. Apprentices are mostly employed by partner companies, not the Catapult itself, so check ATAC for current vacancies.
