About Checkout.com

Checkout.com is a payments company that helps businesses take money online. When you buy something from a big website, a payments company in the background checks the payment, protects against fraud and passes the money on. Checkout.com does this for large internet businesses, and its tools include a customisable payment form, card issuing, fraud detection and multi-currency business accounts.

It was founded by Guillaume Pousaz, a Swiss entrepreneur, in 2009 in Singapore as Opus Payments and rebranded as Checkout.com in 2012. It is headquartered in London, and the London office is its largest. It has 19 offices worldwide. Wikipedia lists Netflix, eBay, Klarna, Uber Eats, ASOS, Vinted and Pinterest among its customers.

Its products include Flow, an embeddable payment interface, Issuing for physical and virtual cards, identity verification, fraud detection and a business account. A page on its site, "Helping your business thrive in the digital economy", describes its approach to payments, but we did not find a formal company mission statement.

For young people, Checkout.com runs #NextGen programmes: a paid intern programme, usually for students in their penultimate year, and a full-time talent programme for recent graduates. Its early-careers page names London as the headquarters and largest office, and says roles are in Operations, Technology and Commercial. Not every programme is available in every location, so check the page.
