A Bathgate-based connectivity specialist, founded in 2014, that supplies satellite, wireless and enterprise networks to ships, remote sites and organisations around the world.

About Clarus Networks

Clarus Networks Group provides connectivity where ordinary broadband cannot reach. It supplies satellite, wireless and enterprise network solutions, including managed internet at sea and in remote or difficult places. Its customers work in maritime, transport, construction, utilities, broadcast media and emergency services. It uses new low-Earth-orbit satellite services, including Starlink and OneWeb, as well as private 5G, SD-WAN and cellular technology. It was named in the 2025 Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50, with revenue growth of 941% over three years, and was the top-ranked communications company that year.

Its founders are Derek Phillips, who is Group Managing Director, and Debra Phillips, who is Commercial Director. They started the company in 2014. Derek Phillips says the aim is to make fast, reliable connectivity as accessible in the ocean as in the office, and to solve real-world connectivity challenges for organisations. Debra Phillips has said diversity and inclusion have been central to the journey, and the company won a Women in Leadership award.

The home base is Bathgate in West Lothian, Scotland, where Clarus opened a Connectivity Demonstration Centre that it described as the first of its kind in Scotland. Visitors can test speeds, latency and security on Starlink, OneWeb and private 5G. In 2023 it opened a Norwich office, its first permanent one in England, and at that time reported plans for offices in Aberdeen and Milton Keynes. Customers named in its 2023 announcement included P&O Ferries, Ineos, SSE, Valaris and Hughes Subsea Services. A headline from the Edinburgh Chamber also reports a contract to provide maritime connectivity for CalMac Ferries. In 2026 it won a King's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

In 2026 the company was reported to have 92 people. In 2023 it said its headcount had doubled in a year and, after opening the demonstration centre, that it had made 10 new hires in a month. Visitors to the centre have included people from the NHS, East Ayrshire Council, BT and SpaceX. The company describes its approach in terms of supporting customers properly.

A company like this employs network and satellite engineers who design and install systems, technical support staff, project and delivery managers, sales and business development staff, and finance and operations teams. Maritime, energy and engineering knowledge are useful, and so are computing and electronics. Clarus lists its vacancies on its own website.
