A Cambridge company that makes Versius, a surgical robot system used for keyhole (minimal access) operations.
CMR Surgical develops Versius, a robotic system that helps surgeons carry out minimal access (keyhole) operations. It describes itself as a global robotics company developing a universal robotic system for this kind of surgery.
The company says it is "revolutionising the future of minimal access surgery" and wants to change how surgery is delivered for patients, clinicians and healthcare systems. Its listed values are Ambitious, Humble, People-Focused and Fair & Responsible.
CMR is based in Cambridge, England. In October 2026 it announced a strategic alliance with Stryker, with CMR continuing to lead the development and selling of Versius outside the United States. A report on the deal says product and non-US commercial control stays in Cambridge.
In its own words, CMR is growing fast and breaking new ground, and offers autonomy and opportunity with work that is visible (company claims). We did not find headcount figures.
CMR has advertised a Graduate Software Engineer role in its Data department, with rotations across areas in the first year. It closed on 28 April 2026 (as at 2026), needed a relevant degree and Python or JavaScript/TypeScript skills, and required UK right to work. Check CMR's careers page for the next intake.
