A wound care and ostomy care manufacturer with UK factories at Deeside in Flintshire and Rhymney in South Wales, and engineering apprenticeships.
Convatec is a medical products company that makes advanced wound care dressings and products for managing chronic conditions. In the UK it manufactures a soft absorbent fibre called Hydrofiber at Rhymney, which goes into its Aquacel dressings.
Convatec describes its mission as "Pioneering trusted medical solutions to improve the lives we touch." That is the company's own wording.
A July 2026 company announcement says Convatec has roughly 650 colleagues in UK manufacturing, with about 15% at Rhymney and the rest at its Deeside site. It has also announced a new research hub in Manchester due in 2028, and a Deeside news site has reported research roles moving from Deeside to Manchester. UK-made dressings are exported to about 90 countries.
We did not find independent culture information. Convatec's apprenticeship page frames the company as supportive of career progression and local partnerships, and quotes a senior engineering manager praising its first engineering apprentice in 12 years.
The apprentice page says engineering apprentices at Deeside study at Coleg Cambria, and Convatec hosts work experience placements. A Bright Network listing shows a Territory Business Manager graduate role in London with rolling applications (2026). We did not find apprenticeship levels, pay or a formal UK graduate scheme.
