CrowdStrike

A US cybersecurity company with UK offices, known for its cloud security platform that protects computers and networks from attacks.

About CrowdStrike

CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity company that protects organisations from hackers. Its main product, Falcon, is a cloud-based security platform that watches computers, cloud systems and user identities for signs of attack, using artificial intelligence. CrowdStrike also has experts who investigate attacks after they happen and help organisations recover.

CrowdStrike was co-founded in 2011 by George Kurtz, who is chief executive, Dmitri Alperovitch, a former chief technology officer, and Gregg Marston, a former chief financial officer. In 2012 it hired Shawn Henry, a former senior FBI official, to lead its services business. Falcon launched in 2013. The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and has UK offices; its university pages list London and Reading among campus locations with internship opportunities.

In its job listings CrowdStrike says its mission is to stop breaches. It says it looks for people with "limitless passion" and a focus on innovation and customers. We did not find a longer written values list on the pages we read.

Beyond Falcon, products described on Wikipedia include Falcon Identity Threat Protection (2020), cloud-based threat hunting (2022), Charlotte AI (2023), a generative AI assistant that helps security analysts decide what to look at first, and Falcon Foundry (2023), a platform for building security apps without code. CrowdStrike's research teams have published reports that helped identify state-backed hacking groups, and it helped investigate the 2016 attacks on the US Democratic National Committee. In July 2024 a faulty software update from CrowdStrike crashed about 8.5 million Windows computers worldwide; the company said it was not a cyber-attack, apologised publicly and announced process changes. It is a useful real-life lesson in how much responsibility security engineers carry.

CrowdStrike's university page says internships are paid, typically last 10 to 12 weeks and can lead to full-time jobs, with all degree subjects welcome and an emphasis on cybersecurity, software engineering, computer science, data science and business. Interns get mentoring, a development programme and an executive speaker series. A Summer 2027 Incident Response internship runs 12 weeks, remote within the UK, for penultimate-year undergraduates with the right to work in the UK. Earlier UK listings included an 8-week Reading sales-engineering internship in 2025, and a six-month Falcon Complete graduate internship based in Reading for graduates finishing by August 2026, which involved triaging security alerts and basic malware analysis. The company describes a remote-friendly culture, employee networks and wellness programmes. These are the company's own claims, so ask about them at interview.
