CybSafe

A London-based cybersecurity company using behavioural science to reduce the human side of cyber risk.

About CybSafe

CybSafe is a cybersecurity company that focuses on the human side of security. Most attacks succeed because someone clicks a bad link or makes a slip, so CybSafe builds software that measures how people actually behave and gives them personalised support at the moment they need it, rather than relying on a yearly box-ticking training video. It describes itself as a behavioural science and data analytics company that helps organisations manage human cyber risk.

CybSafe was founded in 2015 by cyber resilience experts from Torchlight Group, with Oz Alashe MBE as chief executive and founder. Alashe is a former UK Special Forces lieutenant colonel. Press releases have been issued from London, and later ones from London and San Francisco. Its careers site describes the company as "Remote First", so many people work from home, and a job advert mentions access to a London HQ. We did not find a current headcount.

Alashe has said "For too long, cybersecurity training has forgotten people", and "We believe in people." A 2017 press release said the aim was to positively change security-related behaviour. His stated goal is to help businesses reduce risk by changing behaviour in ways that can be measured. The careers site says the company wants to transform how society handles the human side of cyber security and help people use technology confidently and safely. It lists core values but we could not read the wording.

The platform tracks and measures security behaviour and delivers instant, personalised help to users. Its site lists four products: Guide, Phish, Respond and Signal. An earlier press release said over 350 organisations in 15 countries used the platform, in nine languages, and named customers including Credit Suisse, Barclays, HSBC, Air Canada, FNZ Group, Moody's and NHS Trusts; these are the company's claims and dated. It says it is accredited by the NCSC (the UK's National Cyber Security Centre) and CIISec, and shows Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 badges.

CybSafe's careers site calls the team a "diverse and inclusive tribe". It says it holds quarterly equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging reflection sessions and reports diversity data to the Tech Talent Charter. It describes an interview process of a People & Talent video call, a hiring manager video interview, an assessment interview and a coffee chat. It has an engineering team and has advertised senior engineer roles. We found no mention of graduate schemes, apprenticeships or internships, so ask the company directly.
