Cyted Health

A Cambridge University spin-out that develops simple, non-endoscopic tests to catch oesophageal cancer and its warning signs earlier.

About Cyted Health

Cyted Health makes diagnostic tests for diseases of the food pipe (oesophagus). Its EndoSign device is a minimally invasive, non-endoscopic way to collect cells, and these are checked in the laboratory using biomarkers. The company started with oesophageal cancer and its precursor, Barrett's oesophagus.

Cyted says it aims to prevent disease rather than treat it. Its chief executive and co-founder Dr Marcel Gehrung describes the focus as "detecting oesophageal diseases earlier".

Cyted is a University of Cambridge spin-out, headquartered in Cambridge, UK. A September 2025 announcement says its technology has been used across the NHS, with more than 35,000 tests completed, and that it is also expanding in the USA.

On its careers page Cyted says it values inclusion and diversity, welcomes applications from under-represented groups and people with unconventional educational or career backgrounds, and offers the chance to work on company-wide projects alongside a core role. These are the company's own claims. It interviews on a rolling basis.

We did not find a graduate scheme, internship or apprenticeship, and the careers page we read named no specific role. Because it welcomes non-traditional backgrounds, it is worth checking Cyted's careers page for current roles in laboratory, data and clinical work.
