The UK arm of the Japanese-owned dentsu group, running media, creative and customer-experience agencies from London and northern offices.

About Dentsu UK

Dentsu UK is the British business of dentsu, a Japanese-owned marketing group. It runs advertising and marketing work in three areas: media (planning and buying advertising space), creative (ideas and campaigns) and customer experience marketing, which is about the data and technology behind how brands talk to their customers.

Dentsu's international brands include Carat, dentsu X, iProspect, Isobar, dentsumcgarrybowen and Merkle. In a 2022 release the company said that over two years it had brought 28 UK and Ireland brands into fewer leadership brands under the three offerings of Media, Creative and CXM. Its stated aim was to become the "most integrated, experience led network in the UK market", and it described the UK and Ireland as its second-largest market. Giulio Malegori, then EMEA chief executive, called the UK and Ireland "one of the largest and most significant advertising markets in the world". Angela Tangas, who came from dentsu in Australia and New Zealand, was appointed chief executive from September 2022; these are 2022 details, so check who leads it now. Globally dentsu international had about 45,000 specialists at that time.

The head office is at Regent's Place, 10 Triton Street, London NW1 3BF. A trade report on its UK leadership says it also has major operations in Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle, so roles are not only in London. Those details date from 2022 and offices change, so check the latest locations. We did not find a current UK headcount.

Dentsu UK is led by a chief executive for the UK and Ireland, and its media brand Carat describes its thinking as "perspectives that challenge the average". Beyond that, the pages we read gave little about day-to-day culture, so talk to people who work there. Dentsu also reported a data security incident affecting some current and former UK employees, linked to Merkle, which is worth knowing about as a matter of public record. The Carat UK site is organised into About, Services, Work and Thoughts & Views, with research on attention, culture, AI, technology, commerce and brand-building, which shows the topics media teams spend time thinking about.

A company this size employs people in media planning and buying, creative and design, strategy, data and analytics, technology, client service and finance. If you like numbers and problem solving, media and data teams may suit you; if you like ideas and storytelling, look at creative. Entry routes are not covered here, so check each dentsu brand's own pages.
