A London and Manchester factual television producer, part of Banijay, behind One Born Every Minute, Ambulance and Surgeons at the Edge of Life.
Dragonfly is a British television company that makes premium factual programmes. Its own page says it is award-winning and makes shows for broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Discovery+ and Netflix. Titles on its page include Ambulance and Surgeons at the Edge of Life, both on the BBC, One Born Every Minute on Channel 4, Date My Mate on Amazon and Then Barbara Met Alan for the BBC and Netflix. Wikipedia also lists Kill It Cook It Eat It, The Hotel, World's Toughest Trucker and Eva Longoria: Searching for France.
Nick Curwin and Magnus Temple founded the company in 2004 as Firefly Film and Television Productions. It took the name Dragonfly in December 2008. One Born Every Minute, its Channel 4 documentary set on a maternity ward, won the BAFTA for Best Factual Series in 2010. Dragonfly says it tells stories with "passion, craft and integrity" and counts three BAFTA wins. Beyond that phrase we did not find a longer mission statement.
Dragonfly is based in London and Manchester, according to its page, which also lists Dragonfly North as part of the company. Wikipedia says the headquarters are in London. The company has been part of Banijay since 2020, and its footer uses a Banijay UK address. Recent news items on its page include Cancer Detectives: Finding the Cures for Channel 4 and a Prime Video adventure series, both from October 2025. Having a northern base means that roles are not all in London.
Dragonfly says Broadcast magazine ranked it "The Best Place to Work in Television", which is the company's own claim that we could not check. Named leaders on the page include Richard Bond, managing director, who in 2025 was set to lead factual drama for Banijay UK, and Alex Moore, who joined as executive vice president for documentaries and unscripted in 2024. Wikipedia names only the founders. The company says nothing else about culture, so we do not guess.
A factual producer employs a wide range of people. Development producers and executives find and shape ideas, series producers, directors and producer-directors run each programme, and researchers, assistant producers and runners support them. Production managers, coordinators and accountants handle planning and budgets, and editors and post-production specialists finish the shows. Programmes about hospitals and ambulance crews also need people who can build trust with real people. Science, health, history, journalism and film are all good starting points.
