The UK arm of DSV, a Danish-founded global transport and logistics group, which provides air, sea, road and rail freight and warehousing, and took over DB Schenker's UK business in 2025.
DSV is a transport and logistics company that offers air, sea, road and rail transport and contract logistics. The DSV UK website lists air freight, sea freight, road transport, rail freight and parcels, along with contract logistics, project logistics, lead logistics (managing a customer's whole transport network), customs clearance and courier services. It also describes industry-specific logistics for aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, healthcare, industrial and technology customers. The group is organised into three divisions, Air & Sea, Road and Contract Logistics, and is known as an asset-light business, meaning it owns no ships or aircraft and only a small fleet of trucks and trailers.
DSV was founded in Denmark in 1976 by Leif Tullberg and nine independent hauliers, and its name comes from the Danish words for the combined hauliers of 13 July 1976. It has grown mainly by buying other logistics firms. Wikipedia lists the purchase of DFDS Dan Transport Group in 2000, which gave it road transport activities in the UK among other places, then UTi Worldwide in 2016, Panalpina in 2019 and Agility Logistics in 2021. Jens Lund became group chief executive in February 2024. We did not find a mission statement in the pages we read.
In the UK, DSV operates through companies such as DSV Air & Sea UK Limited and DSV Road, with a listed address at Parkeston, Harwich. The biggest recent change came on 30 April 2025, when DSV completed its purchase of DB Schenker, including Schenker's UK business. According to a Motor Transport report, DSV has since been merging UK terminals: Midlands operations at Mercia Park, South East terminals at Purfleet, a new terminal at Bradford for Yorkshire and the North East, and Hamilton for Scotland's central belt. DSV says this creates a more connected UK operation with national coverage, including offshore islands. We did not find a UK headcount.
We did not find a UK culture page or staff stories for DSV, so we cannot describe what working life is like, and the integration with Schenker means teams and sites are changing. Group-wide, Wikipedia gives two different headcount figures, around 74,000 and 151,751 full-time equivalents at the end of 2025, which probably reflects different ways of counting or different dates. Treat both with caution.
A freight forwarder like DSV needs people to arrange shipments, answer customers, book space on ships and aircraft, and sort out customs and import paperwork. Operations teams run warehouses and terminals, drivers and transport planners keep goods moving by road, sales and account managers look after customers, and finance, IT and human resources staff support them. The work suits people who like organising, geography, languages and working to deadlines. DSV's UK careers pages list current vacancies and locations.
