Dyson

A British technology company best known for vacuum cleaners and home appliances, now investing heavily in robotics, machine learning and AI.

About Dyson

Dyson designs and makes home technology products. Its robotics teams work on computer vision, machine learning, sensors and robot learning, with the aim of building machines that can help in the home.

Its robotics page says "Robots are the future of household chores" and that Dyson wants to "put cutting edge robotics technology into people's homes". It says it has developed robot technology for over 20 years.

Dyson's main technology campus is at Malmesbury and Hullavington in Wiltshire, and it has software and technology teams in Bristol. Hullavington, a former RAF base, has been refitted as a robotics facility for 250 roboticists. A 2022 report said Dyson planned to hire 700 robotics engineers over five years (as at 2022).

The company says interns and graduates get free lunches, lunchtime activities and the chance to work with senior leaders. These are its own claims. It also lists Times Top 100 Graduate Employers 2023 and 2024.

Dyson runs graduate roles, internships and placements, apprenticeships and the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology. The page says internships can lead to graduate roles. Entry requirements are on individual vacancies, so check them there.
