About easyJet

easyJet is an airline that flies passengers on short and medium routes across Europe and North Africa, and it also sells package holidays through easyJet holidays. It was founded in 1995 by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and started out at London Luton Airport, where its head office, a hangar known as Hangar 89, still sits today. Its fleet is made up of Airbus A320-family aircraft. Behind every flight are pilots and cabin crew, engineers and maintenance teams, IT and data specialists, and head office teams in areas such as finance and people.

We could not find a formal mission statement on the pages we read, so we will not invent one. What easyJet does say is that it thinks "a career in aviation is one of the best", and its careers tagline is "Make it easyJet". In 2025 its Director of Engineering and Maintenance said that "Today's young people are motivated by purpose", and the company has linked its engineering apprenticeships to young people wanting jobs that benefit society. These are company statements, so ask current staff how they feel in practice.

easyJet's UK bases include Belfast International, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London Gatwick (its largest base), London Luton, Manchester and Newcastle, and an encyclopedia list also shows London Southend, which you should check is still current. Its 2026 engineering apprenticeships were advertised across seven of these airports: Luton, Gatwick, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Training for those apprentices takes place at easyJet's new maintenance hangar and training campus at Luton. Its largest UK operations are around Luton and Gatwick.

The company runs an Enterprise Advisors programme in which employees volunteer to help local schools with employability skills and advice about aviation careers. One engineer who started as a graduate apprentice said: "I feel I have made friends for life through the apprenticeship programme." A senior manager, Natalie Puncher, joined as cabin crew after leaving school and calls it "one of the best decisions I've ever made". These are the company's own stories, not independent reviews.

There are several ways in. In October 2025 easyJet announced 40 engineering apprenticeships, 20 starting in April 2026 and 20 in October 2026, asking for at least two GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English and maths (or SCQF Level 4 in Scotland). Its graduate programme, called Runway, was relaunched in January 2024 for final-year students in engineering, finance and management; engineering and management run for two years and finance for three, based at Luton, and 16 people joined in 2023 (that evidence is dated). For cabin crew, easyJet announced nearly 1,000 roles for 2026 and says there are no minimum educational qualifications. Schools in its partner network can also place students for four days to two weeks at Luton. Pay was not stated in the sources we read, so check the careers site.
