A not-for-profit education charity based in Reading that runs UK careers services, teacher development and school improvement programmes.

About Education Development Trust

Education Development Trust (EDT) is a not-for-profit organisation that improves education in the UK and abroad. A council page describes it as an educational charity with over 50 years of experience, working to "transform lives through education".

In the UK, one council page says EDT has been a careers provider for over 20 years, including running the National Careers Service in two English regions. Wikipedia lists programmes such as Accelerate for early career teachers, Future Teaching Scholars and a Schools Partnership Programme involving 1,300 schools in England.

EDT is headquartered in Reading and has a team of over 1,100 people, according to Wikipedia. It was founded in 1968 as the Centre for British Teachers, became a charity in 1976, and was called CfBT until 2016.

Work for schools includes careers advice, virtual and in-person work experience, and a booklet called Choices for Year 11 students. A regional project page says EDT supports an apprenticeship project aimed at increasing 18-year-olds starting apprenticeships. We did not find a statement of values.

We did not find a graduate scheme, apprenticeship or internship at EDT itself. Job listings showed careers adviser vacancies, so check EDT's careers site for entry-level roles.
