EGX (ReedPop)

EGX, the UK's big public games event, run by events company ReedPop alongside MCM Comic Con in London and Birmingham.

About EGX (ReedPop)

EGX, formerly the Eurogamer Expo, is an annual video games show held in the UK. Visitors play upcoming games, watch competitive gaming, meet creators and see independent titles. It is organised by ReedPop, an events company that also runs pop culture shows.

ReedPop's event director Kahlil Schweitzer described the show as "the ultimate pop culture and gaming experience". We did not find a formal mission statement for ReedPop on the pages we read.

The first Eurogamer Expo was held in 2008 as part of the London Games Festival and drew about 4,000 people. It was renamed EGX London in 2013 and later simply EGX, moving between venues including Earls Court, the NEC in Birmingham and ExCeL London. A spin-off for PC and independent games began in 2012 as Rezzed, later EGX Rezzed and then EGX Birmingham. The 2020 show was cancelled during the pandemic, in 2024 EGX merged with MCM Comic Con, and in 2025 it returned to ExCeL London on 24 to 26 October and to the NEC Birmingham on 28 to 30 November, the first Birmingham EGX since the move to London in 2019.

The 2025 programme included an Indie Game Summit and Career Fair, which brings together publishers, developers and emerging talent, an Arena stage for competitive gaming, and the Rezzed Zone and Leftfield Collection for independent games. The career fair is a good place for students to meet people from the industry.

Events companies employ producers, marketing and sales staff, operations and logistics teams, content curators and partnership managers. The sources say little about ReedPop's UK office or team, so check its own site for roles and locations. The show has had a long link with developers and fans: Peter Molyneux hosted a developer session at Rezzed in 2012, and TikTok was the headline partner for EGX London in 2023. ReedPop took over organising the show from Gamer Network, which launched Rezzed with Rock Paper Shotgun in 2012. It is a busy, visible way to see how a games brand reaches the public. Over the years the show has been held at the Old Truman Brewery (2008), Earls Court (2010 to 2014), the NEC in Birmingham, ExCeL London and Tobacco Dock, with Berlin editions in 2018 and 2019 (at STATION), and in 2020 an online event ran with PAX instead of the cancelled live show.
