ElevenLabs

AI voice and audio company that makes realistic speech, dubbing and voice agents. Started in 2022 by two Polish engineers and now has a London base.

About ElevenLabs

ElevenLabs builds AI that can speak, listen and create sound. Its technology turns written text into natural-sounding speech in dozens of languages, dubs videos into other languages while keeping the speaker's voice, writes music and sound effects, and powers voice agents that can answer customer calls. Its tools are used by creators, publishers, game and film studios, and businesses that want to talk to their customers in a more human way.

ElevenLabs was founded in 2022 by Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dąbkowski, who both grew up in Poland. They have said they were inspired by how badly American films are often dubbed into other languages, and wanted to make audio and speech feel natural. The name nods to 11 November, Poland's Independence Day, and the word "Labs" signals a research focus. The company has offices in London and New York, according to Wikipedia, and its website mentions recent launches in Singapore, the Netherlands, Belgium and Canada.

The company describes itself as an AI research and product company that aims to make communication and creation with technology seamless. It started with a human-sounding voice model and has expanded well beyond voice. It says AI safety is central to its work, with a dedicated safety team and several layers of protection against misuse, which matters because realistic voices can also be used to deceive.

Its products fall into three groups. ElevenAgents helps businesses build voice and chat agents for customer support and sales. ElevenCreative lets people generate and edit speech, music, sound effects, images and video in more than 90 languages, including voice cloning and AI dubbing. ElevenAPI gives developers access to its audio models. Over the years it has launched audiobook tools, a speech-to-text model called Scribe, and a music generator.

ElevenLabs describes its team as builders across research, engineering and operations, including scientists, creatives and former founders, and it says it looks for driven people who want to create lasting positive impact. It is always hiring from diverse backgrounds. Its pages do not describe a specific internship or graduate scheme, so students should check the careers page for current openings and locations.
