ePropelled

An electric and hybrid propulsion company with UK engineering roots that makes motors and generators for drones and uncrewed aircraft, with an innovation centre in Coventry.

About ePropelled

ePropelled designs electric and hybrid propulsion systems for uncrewed vehicles in the air, on land and at sea. Its products include the Sparrow and Falcon families of motors and controllers, the Hercules hybrid starter generators (up to 14 kilowatts) and ePConnect, a software platform that monitors and controls a vehicle's power systems. The Sparrow motors range from 160Kv up to 7,000 watts for light and powerful drones, and the Falcon range includes a motor that delivers up to 10 kilowatts. The company says it holds 36 patents covering advanced magnetics, electric drives and energy management, and that it is working with the German engine maker Hirth on lightweight hybrid engines that run on heavy fuel.

We did not find a formal mission statement. Founder, chair and chief executive Nick Grewal has said "The world has realised it cannot depend on a single region for critical propulsion." Its 2026 announcements stress affordability, resilience and what it calls sovereign supply chains. Its customers include defence and industrial users as well as civil drone makers, so this is a company where aviation technology and defence overlap.

ePropelled describes strong UK engineering roots and operations in India and the United States. On 20 March 2026 it opened its Global Innovation Centre in Coventry, in the West Midlands, to expand UK capability in electric and hybrid propulsion. The centre supports long-endurance drones, robotic ground vehicles and autonomous boats. Local MPs Mary Creagh and Taiwo Owatemi attended the opening, and Ms Creagh said investment from firms like this creates skilled jobs in the city and praised Coventry's engineering heritage. Henry Sullivan, chief financial officer, said that is where the next generation of electric and hybrid propulsion systems will be engineered.

Named people in the 2026 coverage include Mr Grewal, Mr Sullivan, Simon Baugh (Director of Corporate Marketing) and Robert Towler (Mechanical Engineering Manager). The company says it makes around 100,000 to 150,000 systems a year and aims to pass one million a year by 2027, which suggests a lot of hands-on design, testing and production work. We did not find a staff count or any description of culture or values.

We found no graduate scheme, internship or apprenticeship from ePropelled, and the coverage of the Coventry centre does not mention apprenticeships or the number of jobs created. If you are interested, check its website for vacancies. Mechanical, electrical and power electronics engineering are the obvious fields, and Coventry sits in a strong engineering region with several universities.
