A Bristol-based environmental consultancy, founded in 2001 and certified as a B Corp, advising governments, charities and companies on waste, the circular economy, climate and the natural environment.
Eunomia Research and Consulting is an independent environmental and sustainability consultancy. It began by advising on waste management and has grown to cover circular economy, climate and carbon, air quality, renewable energy, the natural environment, and sustainable business, including the transition to cleaner transport. Its clients are national governments, international charities, global corporations and small businesses. Examples of its work include biodegradable and compostable plastics, climate policy, and environmental planning through the consultancy Collingwood Environmental Planning, which it acquired.
Eunomia was founded in 2001 by Dr Dominic Hogg, who was born in Bristol and was chairman for nearly twenty years. Its GreenJobs profile says the firm is "dedicated to helping our clients to achieve better environmental and commercial outcomes". In a 2020 article, Mr Hogg described its goal as work that helps to alleviate a climate crisis, improve air quality, enhance the natural environment and support a more circular economy. The company calls itself one of the first sustainability consultancies to achieve global B Corp certification. Joe Papineschi succeeded Dr Hogg as chairperson, Jonquil Hackenberg became its first chief executive and Mike Brown remains managing director.
The head office is at 37 Queen Square, Bristol. In 2015 it announced a Manchester office, and it has had a London office. Overseas it has opened offices in New Zealand, Brussels, New York and Athens, among others. A January 2020 article put the staff at 105 across three continents, with sales and headcount up 94 percent in five years; that is dated. Eunomia also sponsored water fountains in Greater Manchester as part of Refill campaigns. We did not find the current UK office list.
The company describes a fast-paced environment where operational and policy experts from different disciplines work together, with peer support and a sense of community across offices, and an ethos of social and environmental responsibility. It is a Living Wage employer and has an equal opportunities policy. The 2020 article credits a progressive benefits package and a commitment to continuous learning. It also said that a recent intake of fourteen new starters mixed experienced specialists with people new to the environmental field. These are company descriptions.
The jobs are consultants and researchers who study waste, resources and climate questions, analysts and modellers, policy advisers, project managers, and business support staff. A GreenJobs profile says the work spans analytical, operational and policy advice. Degrees in environmental science, economics, engineering, geography or maths all fit. The company's website lists current vacancies.
