parcel delivery company (formerly Hermes) · Logistics, Shipping & Supply Chains

Evri

A Leeds-headquartered parcel delivery company, formerly Hermes, delivering online orders to homes and ParcelShops across the UK.

About Evri

Evri delivers parcels for online shops and for people sending items to friends and family. Customers can have parcels delivered to their door or collected from a network of ParcelShops and lockers, and the company's own website says that network now exceeds 10,000 points, with a trial of in-branch Post Office services. Evri says it delivers over 700 million parcels a year for more than 700 retail clients and reaches over 220 international destinations. It became the UK's best-known parcel delivery brand under its former name, Hermes, and it uses a large team of couriers to reach homes in every part of the country.

The company was named Evri in March 2022, when Hermes Europe's UK operations were rebranded. Its roots are in Bradford, and its registered office is in Morley, Leeds. Wikipedia says that in October 2025 DHL's UK e-commerce delivery operations merged with Evri, and DHL's e-commerce division now operates as Evri Premium. On its about-us page Evri gives its mission as "to offer the most convenient way to send, receive and return parcels without costing the earth", and its vision as "to lead the way in creating responsible delivery experiences for everyone, everywhere". Its values include doing the right thing for people, communities and the planet, and caring for every parcel.

Evri's own site says it operates more than 500 UK sites, including six hubs, over 25 depots and hundreds of delivery units. Its flagship is a 340,000 square foot super-hub in Barnsley that the company calls the biggest parcel distribution centre in Europe and its greenest facility. Lockers, ParcelShops and Post Office points fill the high streets and shopping centres that most people pass every day. Because the company is spread across so many places, jobs are available in towns and cities around the country, not only in Leeds.

The company says it works with more than 20,000 couriers, and Wikipedia describes a "self-employed plus" model in which couriers receive guaranteed pay rates, paid holiday and an auto-enrolled pension while keeping flexible hours. The company chief executive Martijn de Lange has said this. Evri has also faced public criticism: Wikipedia reports that Ofcom has rated it as the weakest major delivery firm for customer satisfaction, and that courier groups have raised concerns about working conditions. It is worth reading widely and forming your own view. Evri's own culture claims include a focus on sustainability, including biomethane trucks, and an ESG strategy.

Delivery work is the most visible job, but a company like this also needs HGV and van drivers, warehouse and hub operatives, planners, customer service teams, IT and data specialists, and finance and people teams at head office. Evri's website also mentions a driving academy. If you enjoy logistics puzzles, such as how to route hundreds of thousands of parcels through a night-time sorting hub, this is a company where you could see that work up close.
