FANUC UK

The UK arm of the Japanese factory-automation company FANUC, based at Ansty Park, Coventry, supplying robots, CNC controls and machine tools.

About FANUC UK

FANUC UK supplies the machines and controls that run modern factories: industrial robots, CNC controllers (the computers that steer machine tools), lasers, machining centres, electric discharge machines and injection moulding machines. Its UK team describes itself as a human face for a global player, and offers complete factory automation systems through one customer contact point. The parent company, FANUC Corporation of Japan, is described on the UK site as having 271 locations in 109 countries and over 8,200 employees.

We did not find a mission statement in the pages we could read, so we have not written one for the company. What the UK site does stress is service: sales, engineering, training, parts and repair teams working together so customers can get everything for their automation from one place. FANUC's machine names, such as ROBODRILL, ROBOCUT and ROBOSHOT, are well known in workshops and factories.

FANUC UK is based in Coventry. A 2017 trade report said it opened a new three-storey headquarters at Ansty Park of about 9,940 square metres, roughly four times bigger than its previous site, with more than 100 employees working there at that time. The building was said to bring robotics, machine tools and factory automation under one roof, and included design, manufacturing and training areas, offices and a showroom. Those figures are from 2017, so today's numbers may differ.

The same report described training facilities with eight robots of different sizes, twelve factory automation simulators and two robots used to teach maintenance by taking them apart and rebuilding them. Training also covered injection moulding, high-speed milling and electric discharge machining. This points to a company that teaches customers and its own engineers as part of the job. We found no culture statements, so we make no claims about working life.

Jobs at a business like this include robot application engineers, service engineers who travel to customers, trainers, spare parts and logistics staff, programmers, and sales and support roles. Students with an interest in engineering, electronics, computing or maths will find plenty of relevance. Coventry sits in the Midlands manufacturing area, close to many car and aerospace firms that are FANUC's customers.
