A London-based car maintenance booking service that arranges MOTs, servicing and repairs at vetted independent garages and collects the car for you.
Fixter lets drivers book an MOT, service or repair online. It collects the car from a place the customer chooses, has the work done by a garage it has checked, and brings the car back. The idea is to take the stress out of looking after a car.
Its stated mission is to take "the hassle out of looking after a car" with a complete, affordable, end-to-end service and a world-class customer experience. Its in-house mechanics choose partner garages, negotiate prices and review the work done on customers' cars. It works with independent garages rather than running its own.
Fixter launched in 2017 and says it serves more than 100 towns and cities across the UK. It is based in London, with an office on Islington High Street near Angel. ACQUIRED: by the Renault Group in 2022, and the deal was expected to use the deal to expand into France and other European countries. A careers-site profile lists leaders as Limvirak Chea (chief executive), Frederic Dermer (deputy chief executive) and Cristian Vrabie (chief technology officer).
The same profile gives a team of 21 to 100 people and describes a genuine, friendly and transparent culture with regular socials (company claims). Benefits listed include 25 days holiday, a pension, private medical cover, a training budget and a hybrid pattern of three office days a week. Job listings have included growth marketing, sales and account management, revenue operations and operations manager roles.
Fixter says the UK car service, maintenance and repair market is worth about £30 billion a year, which is why it sees room to grow. The careers-site profile quotes a Glassdoor score of 4.7 and a Trustpilot score of 4, which are third party ratings. Leaders have backgrounds at Google, Eventbrite and BlaBlaCar. Fixter is a good example of how technology companies are changing everyday services: it uses software to connect customers with local garages. Working there could include marketing, operations, data, customer support or working with garages. Its in-house mechanics are an important part of the team because they choose the partner garages, agree prices and check the work, so there is an engineering and practical side as well as the technology. Benefits listed also include a laptop, discounts on Fixter services and the option to work from abroad for a month a year, which are company claims.
