Florence

A London health and social care staffing app that helps nurses, carers and support workers pick up flexible shifts.

About Florence

Florence is an app that connects nurses, carers and support workers with temporary shifts near them. It also provides tools for care providers, including rotas, staff banks, payroll and an online Florence Academy for training. Its site says 100,000 care professionals trust it.

Its stated mission is to make healthcare simpler and fairer, with fewer high fees, complicated processes and wasted shifts. Its values include collaborating with pride, being bold, asking why, putting customers first and building an inclusive team.

It is headquartered in London and was founded in 2016 by Dr Charles Armitage and Dan Blake. It opened a Glasgow office in 2019, and job listings show field-based roles around the UK, including Northern Ireland and Devon and Cornwall.

It describes itself as tech-driven but run by real people, with an inclusive team. That is its own claim.

Care professionals can sign up as workers, and the site shows shift pay ranges for carers and nurses (as at 2026). Its career listings include business development and operations roles; we did not find a formal graduate scheme or internship.
