Flylogix

A Hampshire company that flies long-range uncrewed aircraft, controlled by remote pilots, to monitor offshore energy sites and the sea.

About Flylogix

Flylogix describes itself as an engineering company that combines AI, satellite communication and electronics to run routine uncrewed aviation services. Its long-range aircraft are mainly supervised by remote pilots on land. Customers include offshore energy firms such as BP, Shell and TotalEnergies, for whom it measures methane at North Sea platforms, and it also monitors subsea cables and responds to oil spills. It has also looked at wind-farm surveys and moving small, urgent parts between airports.

The company's stated aim is to cut the cost, risk and environmental impact of aviation tasks, for example by keeping pilots onshore instead of in offshore helicopters. Chief executive Charles Tavner says a remote methane flight has about a hundredth of the carbon footprint of a crewed helicopter. These are the company's own claims. He also says "It's all about people" when explaining its growth.

Flylogix is based at the Fareham Innovation Centre in Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, near Solent Airport, where aircraft are ground-tested. It arrived at the centre in March 2018 and uses it as its UK and global operations hub. A May 2026 vacancy shows flying operations at sites in north east Scotland, and an earlier article mentions work in Morecambe Bay and the English Channel. It has also opened an office in Norway, and the Fareham centre has workshops used for building, maintaining and storing aircraft hardware. It says it is the only UK company with Civil Aviation Authority permission to run commercial remote flights beyond the pilot's line of sight (company claim).

An article from around 2023 said the company had 35 staff, drawn from Formula 1, global communications, offshore engineering and search and rescue, while an undated directory entry puts it at 11 to 50 people. Several team members have worked with uncrewed aircraft for 15 to 20 years. Commercial, technical and operations teams were moved into a shared open-plan space so they can talk more easily. The leadership listed includes a chief technical officer and an operations director.

We did not find a graduate scheme or apprenticeship. In May 2026 the firm advertised for a remote pilot, asking for strong skills with uncrewed aircraft systems and knowledge of aviation safety rules. Beyond-visual-line-of-sight and offshore experience were an advantage, not required. Applications go through the careers page or jobs@flylogix.com.
