A London estate agent founded in 1981 in Notting Hill, with branches across London, its commuter belt and Birmingham, doing lettings, sales and mortgage advice.
Foxtons is a residential property group. Its main businesses are lettings (renting homes out on behalf of landlords), sales (helping people sell and buy), and financial services such as mortgage advice. It works through a network of branches, and its own website says lettings is the biggest part of the group, with more than 32,000 tenancies in its portfolio. It also manages homes for landlords day to day, and has a team that works with large investors who own blocks of rented homes. Its website describes it as the UK's most iconic estate agency brand, and many Londoners will recognise its branded Mini cars on the street.
The company began in 1981 as a two-person agency in Notting Hill Gate, London. Press reports name Jon Hunt as its founder, although its own pages do not. Its history page says it was the first estate agent to launch a customer website, in 1991, and in 2002 it opened its first café-style offices in Ealing, Richmond, Balham and Wimbledon. In its own words, its purpose is "getting the right deal done for London's property owners", and its mission is to be "London's go-to estate agent". In 2022 it introduced a brand promise: "We Get It Done".
Foxtons says it operates from branches across London, its commuter belt and Birmingham, and it has more than 1,500 people working across the branch network. Its head office has been at Chiswick Park in west London since 2001, and its careers pages mention a flagship office in Sloane Square and a Worcester hub, which is listed as a team location. The first office, in Notting Hill Gate, is still part of the story the company tells about itself. It expanded into Surrey in 2006 with offices in Kingston, Guildford and Woking.
On culture, Foxtons describes a workplace built on pride and professionalism, with colleagues who share a drive to succeed. It calls itself a long-running property industry disruptor. Those are its own claims, so treat them as a description from the inside rather than a neutral review. It has partnered with a London homelessness charity, the Single Homeless Project, since 2024, and has committed to switching its vehicles to electric through the EV100 scheme. Its chief executive is Guy Gittins, who took the role in 2022.
Foxtons employs people in a wider range of jobs than you might expect. Its careers pages list property negotiators and estate agents, property management teams, business development, branch coordinators, mortgage advisers (through its long-standing partner Alexander Hall), data and technology staff, and fleet, facilities and logistics teams. If you like talking to people, solving problems quickly and working with technology, there is a role type to explore. The company's own site says some current managing directors began in entry-level roles. Check the company's website for what is open now.
