A Bath-based global specialist media company behind brands such as TechRadar, Tom's Guide, PC Gamer and Marie Claire.
Future plc is a British publisher of specialist magazines and websites, listed on the London Stock Exchange. Its brands include TechRadar, Tom's Guide, PC Gamer, GamesRadar+, MusicRadar, Digital Camera World, Creative Bloq, IT Pro, Marie Claire and Truly. Many of these began as print magazines and are now read mostly online, alongside video, events and shopping advice content.
Future began in 1985, when Chris Anderson founded Future Publishing in Somerton, Somerset, with the computer magazine Amstrad Action. Early issues were known for giving free software on the cover. It was sold to Pearson in 1994, bought back by Anderson in 1998, and floated on the stock market in 1999. Since 2018 it has grown by buying other media businesses, including TI Media, Dennis Publishing, Purch and Barcroft Studios. We did not find a formal mission statement in the pages we read, so check the Future website for the current wording.
In the UK, the headquarters is in Bath, Somerset. A reference source says Future had 3,047 employees in 2025 across the whole group, which includes teams in the US and Australia. It names no other UK offices, but the businesses it bought, such as Dennis Publishing and TI Media, were London based, so check the company's site for current locations. Kevin Li Ying became chief executive in March 2025. Acquisitions since 2018 include TI Media, which brought in 41 brands, and the cycling titles Cyclingnews and Procycling in 2019. The group has closed or sold some print titles in recent years as it moves online, including the film magazine Total Film.
Future describes itself as a specialist publisher, so staff are often enthusiasts who know their subjects, such as gaming, photography, cycling or technology. Typical roles include writers and editors, reviewers who test products, video producers, SEO and audience specialists, designers, developers, commercial and advertising teams, finance and human resources. These are general roles in the sector, not a list taken from Future's own site.
Many Future brands began with a hobby audience, so a good way to explore is to pick a topic you love and read how those sites review and explain it. Check Future's website for current information on brands and locations.
