A UK television news and opinion channel launched in 2021, broadcasting from London studios with presenters, reporters and producers.
GB News is a UK television news channel that began broadcasting at 20:00 on 13 June 2021. It describes its aim as to broadcast original news, opinion and debate, mixing news coverage with opinion-based content. It was the first British television news start-up since Sky News launched in 1989, so it is a young broadcaster by industry standards. Its co-founders were Andrew Cole and Mark Schneider, who resigned as directors by August 2022 after their holdings were bought by Paul Marshall and Legatum, each now holding about 40% through All Perspectives Ltd.
Its founding chairman Andrew Neil said it would champion robust, balanced debate and a range of perspectives. Press outlets have described the channel as right-wing on political issues, and the channel has not stated a political allegiance. Ofcom has found it in breach of its rules several times, including on impartiality, as reported on Wikipedia, though the High Court ruled two findings unlawful in February 2025 and Ofcom dropped its remaining impartiality investigations in March 2025.
Its headquarters are at Riverbank House in London, with studios at The Point in Paddington Basin and on Albert Embankment. Since 28 August 2023 it has also broadcast from a Westminster studio in the QE2 Centre, formerly used by Sky News. The channel's licence is held by All Perspectives Ltd. Ofcom granted the broadcast licence in January 2020, before launch, and Ofcom's rules say politicians may present but generally cannot act as newsreaders, reporters or interviewers.
Its leadership as reported includes Alan McCormick as chairman and Angelos Frangopoulos as chief executive. Presenters have included Nigel Farage, Eamonn Holmes, Michael Portillo, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Andrew Pierce and Camilla Tominey. Staff numbers have been reported as 311 falling to 263 in the year to May 2025, and in July 2026 the company announced plans to cut more than a third of its workforce.
A news channel employs journalists, producers, camera and gallery crews, editors, researchers, engineers, digital staff and sales teams. We have not researched careers pages. Because staffing is being reduced, check the channel's own website and the latest news before relying on this overview.
