About Get Living

Get Living is a rental housing company that creates and runs build-to-rent neighbourhoods. Build-to-rent means homes designed and built specifically to be rented long-term, rather than sold to individual buyers. Its website says it manages over 5,700 homes across seven neighbourhoods and that it created the UK's first large-scale build-to-rent neighbourhood, East Village in Stratford. Other neighbourhoods include Elephant Central and The Filigree in London, New Maker Yards in Salford, One Maidenhead in Berkshire, Sherlock Quarter in Birmingham and The Oakgate in Leatherhead. More are planned.

The company's mission, in its own words, is to offer "a better way to live and rent in sustainable, vibrant communities". It says it wants to change renting for the better. Its stated promises include no admin fees for residents, tenancies of up to three years with a resident-only break clause after six months, the right to decorate and to keep pets, and efforts to reduce environmental impact and add social value. These are the company's own claims.

Get Living began in 2013 with East Village,. Elephant Central opened in 2017 and New Maker Yards in 2019. Two more neighbourhoods opened in 2024, One Maidenhead and The Filigree in Lewisham, with Oakgate and Sherlock Quarter following in early 2025. A further 485 homes are under construction at Elephant and Castle, and the company secured approval in 2023 for 848 new rental homes and 504 student beds at East Village. Delancey's name appears on some of its published news and annual reports.

On culture and people, the website says neighbourhoods are designed to blend into the wider community, with shared public spaces, energy-efficient homes, local shops and community events. It says resident teams work six days a week and that on-site security is provided. The company lists accreditations including GRESB, The Property Ombudsman, CTSI and ARLA Propertymark, which are standards bodies for property and consumer practice. The team is described as having decades of combined experience in property, retail, consumer and finance; no named leaders appeared on the pages we read.

Roles in a build-to-rent business span resident and community teams, lettings and customer service, building and facilities management, development and design, asset management, marketing and events, sustainability, and finance and technology. It is a good example of how property is moving toward service, where the landlord looks after a whole neighbourhood and the experience of living there. The company's corporate website lists its annual reports and news.
