Property photography and AI marketing technology company · Real Estate & Property

Giraffe360

A London-based proptech company, founded in Riga in 2016, whose robotic camera and AI turn one visit to a property into photos, floor plans, tours and video for estate agents.

About Giraffe360

Giraffe360 makes a robotic camera and the software behind it, so that estate agents can produce high-quality marketing for a property after a single visit. The camera is sold as a subscription that includes the device, AI processing, cloud storage and automated tools. From one visit it produces high-quality photos, virtual tours, 2D and 3D floor plans, video, a property website, virtual staging and social media content. The company says more than 50 machine learning models, meaning computer programs that learn from examples, handle jobs such as joining images together, measuring floor plans and creating staged rooms.

Brothers Mikus and Madars Opelts founded Giraffe360 in Riga, Latvia, in 2016, and Mikus is chief executive. He describes the company as "building the infrastructure powering this transition, from data capture to intelligent, automated marketing". In 2019 he said real estate is the world's largest asset class and the last major industry not yet changed by technology, and that he believes agents increasingly need better ways to market homes because buyers want to look around remotely. Those are his views, not independent facts.

The UK link is strong. In January 2019 the company moved its headquarters to London, with Mr Opelts saying he picked London because it is the best place in Europe to run a technology business and the property market is one of the world's largest. Its early UK customers included Hunters, John Taylors and RE/MAX, and a later article lists RE/MAX, CBRE and BNP Paribas Real Estate among clients in more than 26 countries. We found London named as its base but no further UK office addresses, so we have not listed any.

We could not find a description of Giraffe360's culture. The founder interview talks about the pleasure of seeing customers use something he has spent years developing and says research and development takes years, which hints at a patient, product-focused outlook, but that is an inference and not a company statement. The company describes itself in its media as a technology business with its roots in Latvia and its commercial base in the UK, and it is a team that has to mix hardware, software and property knowledge.

That mix of skills shapes the roles. A camera company needs electronics and hardware engineers, software and AI engineers, people who test the device in real homes, support staff for customers, and sales and marketing people who work with estate agents. Operations staff look after delivery of cameras and the cloud systems behind them. If you enjoy photography, design, robotics or machine learning and would like to see them applied to something as everyday as selling a house, this is a company to read about.
