Grant Associates

A Bath-based landscape architecture practice, founded in 1997 by Andrew Grant, known for Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.

About Grant Associates

Grant Associates is a landscape architecture practice with its design studio in Bath. Landscape architects design the outdoor world around us, from city parks and courtyards to the planting inside an airport terminal. The practice is best known for Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, a 54-hectare park completed in 2012 with the architects WilkinsonEyre, which won World Building of the Year that year. It also worked on the landscape for Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, which opened in 2022 and has indoor hanging gardens and green walls, and on the 2023 almshouses for United St Saviour's Charity in London.

Andrew Grant founded the practice in 1997 and remains its director. The practice says its focus is contemporary landscape architecture and sustainable development, and its work centres on ecology, biodiversity and climate resilience. Its projects aim to bring nature, water and a good visitor experience together. The practice also founded the Bath Forest of Imagination, an annual community landscape art festival, and is involved in other environmental initiatives.

The UK base is a design studio in Bath, a World Heritage city with a strong creative industries scene, and there is a second studio in Singapore. Within the UK the practice works on projects in places such as London as well as further afield in China, India and Australia, so the Bath team often works with colleagues and clients in different time zones.

On its careers page, the practice says it has over 70 people from more than 17 countries, and it describes a multi-skilled team. It says it offers agile working so staff can choose start and finish times, and it supports CPD events, study support, mentoring for people working towards chartership, and paid professional memberships. It also lists wellbeing support, social events and international studio trips. These are the company's own claims. The practice has also been recognised for its work: the Almshouse scheme it worked on with Witherford Watson Mann won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2025, according to Wikipedia.

Most staff are qualified landscape architects, but the team also includes architects, 3D modellers, BIM and visualisation specialists, horticulturists, designers and IT staff. That means a student who likes plants and ecology, one who likes drawing and design, and one who likes computers and 3D modelling can all find a place. Subjects that help include art, geography, biology and design and technology. Current openings are listed on the practice's website.
