Graphcore

A Bristol-based designer of computer chips and software built to run artificial intelligence, now part of the SoftBank Group.

About Graphcore

Graphcore designs processors, software and systems for AI computing. Its main product is the Intelligence Processing Unit, or IPU, a chip designed specifically for artificial intelligence so that machine learning models can run faster.

A job listing says it builds hardware, software and systems infrastructure to "unlock the next generation of AI breakthroughs". We did not find a separate mission statement on the pages we read.

Graphcore was founded in 2016 and has its headquarters in Bristol, with offices in Cambridge and London as well as overseas. In July 2024 it became part of the SoftBank Group but kept the Graphcore name (ACQUIRED: by SoftBank, 2024). A 2026 graduate listing was based in Cambridge.

The company says its teams come from diverse backgrounds and that it has "a culture of continuous learning and constant innovation". These are its own claims. The listing mentions flexible working, a pension match up to 5% and, at the Bristol office, a barista bar.

It ran a 2026 Graduate Machine Learning Engineer role in its Applied AI team, asking for a degree in a related subject, PyTorch or JAX experience and solid deep learning basics. That listing was removed in December 2025, so check Graphcore's careers page for new intakes.
