A UK clean energy company that builds solar farms and electric vehicle charging, including its Electric Forecourts and Electric Highway.
Gridserve is a UK clean energy company that builds and runs solar farms and EV charging. Its "Sun-to-Wheel" idea is to generate, store and deliver solar power for electric vehicles close to where it is used. Its brands include the Electric Highway, Electric Forecourts and Gridserve Car Leasing.
Founder and chief executive Toddington Harper has said the aim is to "move the needle on climate change" (August 2024 article).
Gridserve reported nearly 1,500 charging bays at more than 190 UK locations in August 2024. A planned Electric Forecourt at Markham Vale, Chesterfield, was due to open in May 2026 and to create ten new customer-facing roles.
The Chesterfield general manager, Ross Watson, said Gridserve is "passionate about creating high-quality job opportunities for local residents". We did not find a values page or headcount.
This is a clear route for people with no experience. Local residents who completed a two-week work academy (starting 13 April 2026, 20 places) with Chesterfield College and Jobcentre Plus were guaranteed an interview, and earned two Level 1 awards. That programme has closed, so check Gridserve's careers page for future roles.
