A UK motoring and cycling retailer and servicing group with about 370 stores and nearly 500 garages.
Halfords is one of the best-known names in UK motoring and cycling. It runs around 370 retail stores selling car parts, bike and cycling products, and accessories. Its Autocentres business has about 496 consumer garages for MOTs, servicing and repairs, and its Mobile Expert vans, around 250 of them, fit tyres, batteries and other parts at people's homes and workplaces.
The group also owns Tredz, a specialist performance cycling retailer, National Tyres, and Commercial Fleet Services, which looks after commercial vehicles and runs 92 depots. It describes its brands as having more than 130 years of heritage, and it has grown from a shop selling parts and bikes into a wider service business. Its Mobile Expert vans visit customers' homes and workplaces, and around 550 Commercial Fleet Services vans look after trucks and vans for businesses.
Halfords states its purpose as: "We keep the nation moving with trusted experts who love to help." It has four values: One Halfords family, Wow our customers, Be better every day, and Pride in expertise. The company says its culture is people-centred, inclusive and performance-driven, and that it is moving towards "always-on listening" to hear from colleagues.
Its address is Icknield Street Drive, Washford West, Redditch, Worcestershire, and its shops and garages are in towns and cities across the UK, which means jobs are close to where many people live. It reports more than 12,500 colleagues. Roles include shop colleagues, cycle mechanics, autocentre technicians, mobile van technicians, commercial vehicle engineers, as well as buyers, e-commerce, software, finance and people teams. Avayler, its garage-management software, is used by clients in North America and Australia, so Halfords also employs software and support staff. Its annual report adds that 103 of its garages are Fusion sites.
Halfords says it trains its own technicians. Its latest annual report says about 270 apprentices are on Level 2 Autocare and Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance programmes, with training in hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance included. Treat this as the company's own reporting and check for current openings. In the 2026 financial year, 167 new technician apprentices joined, and the company's target for the next year is 250 new apprentices.
