A UK luxury resale marketplace that authenticates and sells pre-owned designer clothing, bags and accessories.
Hardly Ever Worn It, often shortened to HEWI, is a luxury resale marketplace. It connects people who want to sell designer fashion and accessories with buyers looking for pre-loved pieces, from handbags to ready-to-wear clothes. Its own listing with The Climate Pledge says each item is authenticated and curated, so that buyers can trust what they are getting. The business is aimed at people who love luxury fashion but want to buy or sell it responsibly, and it describes itself as combining sustainability with genuine luxury, so a piece can have more than one owner and more than one life.
HEWI says its aim is to extend the life of luxury items and give shoppers access to sought-after designer pieces, combining sustainability with genuine luxury. Its chief executive, Tatiana Wolter-Ferguson, has described its goal as "making high-end circular fashion accessible to a diverse and wide-reaching audience", and in 2022 she spoke of wanting to keep driving "a circular fashion system", where good clothes are used again instead of wasted.
The company is headquartered in the United Kingdom and, according to trade press, is based in London. In February 2024 it opened a storefront on Amazon, with orders fulfilled and dispatched by HEWI itself, selling pre-owned clothing, shoes and accessories from houses such as Chanel and Prada to customers in the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany. In 2022 it launched a rebuilt online platform and said it had built its customer base over about nine years, which suggests it started around 2013. It has also worked with British Vogue and Sotheby's.
We found very little about its everyday culture. Press coverage names Ms Wolter-Ferguson as chief executive and Rachel Reavley, a former Net-a-porter executive, as a board director. The company says it signed The Climate Pledge in July 2025, a commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The 2022 relaunch put expert curation and personal customer service for both buyers and sellers at the centre, which tells you the kinds of jobs involved: stylists and authentication specialists, customer service, photography and listing, logistics and online marketing. Its 2022 relaunch also sat alongside partnerships with British Vogue and Sotheby's, which shows the brand-building and partnerships side of a resale business as well as the day-to-day shop work.
HEWI is a small company, so roles are likely to be wide-ranging and hands-on, and people who like fashion, quality and detail will find it interesting. We did not find a staff headcount, a street address or a statement of company values, so the best next step is to read the company's own website and ask about the team directly.
