About Hg UK

Hg is a London-based investor that backs software and services businesses. It says it "supports the building of sector-leading enterprises that supply businesses with critical software applications". Its people work as investors, analysts in origination, and in finance, legal, client services and HR.

Hg set its purpose in 2020 as "Trusted to improve the futures of millions of investors by building sustainable businesses for tomorrow". Its four cornerstones are Be Genuine, Go Beyond, Outlearn and Win Right.

Hg is headquartered in London, with offices in Munich, New York, Paris, San Francisco and Singapore. Its own news release says new executives will be "based in the firm's London office". Its team pages show London-based roles such as an Origination Analyst covering the UK software space. We did not find a street address.

Hg says its culture is "much more like a tech company than a traditional PE firm" and describes staff as curious, entrepreneurial, collaborative and successful. It lists 30 days of paid annual leave, hybrid working and mentoring. These are Hg's own claims, and its pages say staff come from 46 nationalities. The Hg Foundation funds education and employment programmes that address barriers to tech skills.

We did not find an internship, graduate scheme or apprenticeship on Hg's careers pages, which do not mention early careers. The nearest evidence is an Origination Analyst role in London whose holder came from AlphaSights, and an "Hg Academy" training event in London in September 2025 for staff, most of whom joined in 2025 from banking, private equity or investor relations. This suggests Hg tends to hire people with some work experience. Check hgcapital.com for current roles and ask Hg directly about any early-careers routes.
