The UK arm of a global industrial technology company, with a hub in Bracknell, Berkshire, and UK manufacturing and engineering sites.
Honeywell is a large American technology and manufacturing group, and in the UK its industrial businesses make controls, sensors and automation systems used in buildings and industrial plants. Its careers page describes its UK work as solving complex global challenges in automation and energy. A local news report describes one of its UK factories as making controls for gas pipelines. Honeywell has several operating companies in the UK, including Honeywell UK Limited and Honeywell Control Systems Limited, both listed at Companies House.
The company's UK careers page does not give a formal mission or values statement. It says the Bracknell hub offers purposeful work on safer and more sustainable capabilities, with employee networks that focus particularly on inclusion, career growth and a strong performance culture that lets people take ownership of their development. That is the company's own description, and we have not tested it. It links to a separate Life at Honeywell page that was not part of what we could read.
Grace's Guide records that Honeywell's British operations date back at least to the 1970s, when the work was split between Honeywell Control Systems and Honeywell Information Systems, based in Brentford. Honeywell Control Systems moved to Bracknell in about 1982, and Bracknell remains the UK local hub today. The Bracknell hub described on the careers page runs functions such as human resources, payroll and finance for the business. The Star newspaper reported that a Holmewood site near Chesterfield had been making gas pipeline controls for more than five decades, but that Honeywell proposed ending production there with 66 jobs affected. We do not have a date for that report, so check the current position.
On culture, beyond the careers page statement we found little first-hand material. The company has a UK apprenticeship page, but we did not read it. The Holmewood report speaks of an award-winning workforce and says nearly a third of the affected roles might move to another UK location, which suggests a business that moves work between sites as its needs change. That is a fair point for students to know: manufacturing employers reshape their sites over time.
A company of this kind employs control and instrumentation engineers, software engineers, project managers, service engineers who work on customers' sites, factory production and quality staff, supply chain planners, and finance and HR specialists. Engineering, computing, maths and business studies can all be starting points. Bracknell also sits in the Thames Valley, near a large cluster of technology employers.
