Houseful is the company behind some of the best-known names in UK property. Its own website describes it as a UK property group that uses software, data and insight to support property decisions, and it runs three businesses. Zoopla is the consumer property platform for moving, managing and financing a home, including the PrimeLocation site for prime and overseas property. Alto Software Group makes estate agency and property software, including Alto, Jupix and Yourkeys, which the company says supports more than half of UK housing transactions each year. Hometrack provides valuation and risk data for mortgage lenders.
The company's story begins with Zoopla, the property website founded by Alex Chesterman and Simon Kain that launched in January 2008. Zoopla grew through acquisitions, listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2014 and became ZPG plc in 2017. In September 2023 its property division was renamed Houseful, while its separate comparison-site division, which includes Uswitch and Money.co.uk, became RVU. Houseful says it believes "a more connected property market makes for better home choices, experiences, and businesses". The pages we read name no individual offices, though a Bristol listing for the company on a jobs site suggests a presence outside London, which we could not confirm. The software side includes products used by estate agents across the UK, so its influence is nationwide, while its consumer sites are used by buyers, sellers, renters and landlords all over the country.
Wikipedia reports roughly 600 employees, which is an older figure and may no longer be accurate. The company's website links to careers and ESG pages but does not describe the day-to-day culture, so we have little first-hand evidence of what it is like to work there. A 2024 mid-year report on its website shows it publishes information about its performance, which may be useful for anyone wanting to understand the business in detail, though we have not used it here.
