The UK business of HP Inc, the maker of laptops, desktops, printers and 3D printers, with its UK headquarters at Thames Valley Park, Reading.
HP Inc UK Limited is the UK arm of HP, which makes personal computers, printers and print supplies, workstations, and 3D printers. HP sells to consumers, schools, businesses and public bodies, through retail stores, online and through resellers called channel partners. In the UK it also runs the HP Store. HP Labs, the company's research arm formed in 1966, describes work on 3D printing, sustainability, artificial intelligence, security and hybrid working, with research links to universities in the UK.
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard started the company in a Palo Alto garage in 1939. We did not find a UK-specific mission statement, so the company's aims are best seen in what its UK leaders say. Ruth Patterson, vice president and managing director for the UK and Ireland since February 2025, has said that 'when employees are engaged and motivated, the outcome follows' and that 'inclusivity and culture are also a high priority'. She says she wants partners' success to count as HP's success, and to balance speed against perfection.
HP lists four UK offices, all operated by HP Inc UK Limited: the headquarters at Earley West, 300 Thames Valley Park Drive, Reading RG6 1PT; a Glasgow office at 191 West George Street; a Bristol office at 1 Redcliff Street; and a London office at 70 St Mary Axe. HP's previous UK headquarters, opened in Bracknell in 1988, closed when it moved to Reading. The Reading building has a natural theme, a living moss wall in reception and fixed and mobile desks, and was designed to reach the BREEAM 'very good' environmental rating.
George Brasher, then UK and Ireland managing director, called the Berkshire move 'the latest chapter in HP's long UK history' and said Thames Valley is 'the heartbeat of this country's tech sector'. Ruth Patterson has worked at HP for nearly 30 years, in the US and UK. She describes roundtable lunches, regular team communication and a reverse-mentoring forum, where junior staff mentor leaders. These are her own descriptions of how she stays connected to her team. We did not find a UK headcount.
HP's Reading headquarters houses teams in category management, customer support, finance, the HP Store, human resources, IT, legal, marketing, sales operations, and strategy and planning, alongside a large sales and pre-sales group. That mix shows how many different careers sit behind a computer brand, from numbers and law to design of products and customer relationships. Offices in Glasgow, Bristol and London mean not every job is in Berkshire. Check HP's UK site for current vacancies.
